Paper-faced metal beads and trims combine galvanized metal corner and edge protection with high-grade paper tape to provide cost-effective, problem-free, compound-embedded drywall finishing. Paper-faced beads virtually eliminate any potential for corner and edge cracking by moving or floating with the gypsum, independent of framing movement or settling. The result is a precise, high-quality, straight and smooth finish, free from unsightly cracks, chips and nail pops. Tape-on paper-faced beads are not fastened directly to the framing like conventional nail-on bead. Joint compound is applied to the underside of the paper flanges, aligned and pressed into place. The joint compound seeps through the perforated holes in the paper to provide superior adhesion and bonding to the gypsum paper. No mechanical fasteners like nails, screws, staples or crimps are used. Labor and material savings are realized by reducing the amount of joint compound needed and eliminating one pass of finishing.
