NOT SOLD FOR USE IN CALIFORNIA Ideal for powerboats and racing sailboats, VC 17m is the bottom paint industry’s original “non-stick” technology. A very flexible coating, VC 17m is also ideal for use on inflatables. VC 17m incorporates a slick PTFE additive (similar to Teflon ) that markedly reduces friction and produces a smooth, low-drag surface – making it ideal for racing boats, but it works to make cruising boats go faster, as well. Thin film technology makes this paint only 1/8th the thickness of a traditional bottom paint, so it adds practically no weight to smaller racing sailboats, and virtually eliminates film build-up. With its modest charge of biocide, VC 17m is designed primarily for use in fresh water or low-fouling, cold salt waters – where it is typically used in single-season applications. Its 20% copper component protects against fouling – including zebra mussels. A “self-burnishing” paint, as it is applied, the VC 17m coating flows out to immediately create a hard, super smooth, racing finish that would normally take days of tiresome sanding and burnishing to achieve. – Hard, smooth surface – suitable for racing sailboats and high-speed powerboats, as well as inflatables – Single season protection, but can be extended with touch-ups or re-coating – Suitable for fresh or low fouling saltwater, and trailered or rack-stored boats – Can be hauled for extended periods and re-launched without losing its effectiveness – Biocide – 20% by weight metallic copper (mixed in) protects against hard growth – Contains copper – do not apply on aluminum hulls or outdrives – Do not apply over soft or graphite antifouling paints – Apply using short nap roller or airless spray (only); do not apply by brush – Fast overcoating – dries in minutes, allowing for same day launchings – No sanding required between coats – Thinner: Special Thinner 216 – Theoretical coverage is 340 ft2/gallon, practical coverage is 300 ft2/gal (75 ft2/quart); 2 – 3 coats per season recommended (no sanding required); 8% solids (by vol.) – Available in quart kits, only Note – this is a two-component paint. Under the red top is a bag of powdered copper, which is mixed into the base paint before using. Also – this paint takes several weeks of immersion to develop its final color, and it may not change color if above the true waterline.
