DetailOne of the parts of your RV that you don’t want to fail and is frustrating when it does is the plumbing system. The pipes and tubes in your RV create an invisible net that supports you and your faucets while you’re on vacation. Whether your RV is newer or older, your tubing is likely connected with inert fittings and crimp rings. Those applications, though common and easy to use, have many qualities that just don’t hold up to the test of time. Introducing Flair-it fittings. – In RV’s, manufacturers started with brass pipes and fittings as well as copper fittings. While these pipes were sturdy, the fittings were less than perfect. They noticed many leaks and because the pies were not flexible, they were not easy to work with. They then changed to gray tubing, plastic insert fittings, and copper crimp rings. While this solution worked in the short term and was more flexible than the brass of old, there were still those leaks that had to be replaced. Even with the PEX tubing, you would still have those problems. With these Flair-it fittings, you don’t have to worry about any of that. Because of the flared end and insert application, they can be used with both the PEX tubing and the gray tubing with equal success. You can even use these fittings to reduce the tubing size between these two different tubing types. Because these fittings are tighten-to-compress pipe fittings, they are not inserted into the tube, but rather the tubing is inserted over it, using the flared end and cap to create a tight hold. With the older PEX fittings, you would need the crimp rings and tools to install them. Just make sure not to use any lubrication to install these fittings into your system. Creating the best seal on the market today, these fittings are rust-proof, crack-proof, can withstand up to 90 pounds of pressure, and are leak-proof. – This specific type of fitting is a water heater bypass valve, used to split the liquid flow into one of two directions available through the tubes. All three of the ends has the flared end with compression screw. There is a switch on the top to make the flow go in either a straight line or in a 90-degree angle. With this, you can have your water flow into the water heater or bypass it. Make sure to use this fitting in an accessible place.
